Inspiration: Inspired by a dress worn by Queen Victoria c1843, of ivory silk satin with cream gauze overlay and embroidered panels of flowers and leaves executed in silk and metal threads in satin stitch. Queen Victoria gave her dress as a gift to the interior decorator, John Gregory Crace (1809-89), for his wife Sarah Jane Hine Langley (1815-94). This was in gratitude for his role in the Great Exhibition of 1851, which he collaborated on with her husband, Prince Albert.
