You Garden Convallaria Lily Of The Valley - One Colour -

15.99 GBP

Ideal in partial or even full shade, Lily of the Valley is blessed with masses of tiny white bell-shaped flowers that possess a sweet, intoxicating scent in late spring. Please note: This product cannot be delivered to Northern Ireland. Growing up to 20cm on arching stems, which contrast beautifully with its clumps of dark green foliage, this hardy perennial is native to alpine meadows and does best in moist soil where it will happily naturalise and gradually spread. A great cutflower to bring into your home and ideal for brightening up a shady border and making a perfumed carpet of colour under trees and shrubs. Spreading via a network of underground roots, the spring shoots are referred to as 'pips' and sit just beneath the surface of the soil before bursting into bloom. Suitable for UK gardeners at every level of experience. Supplied as a pack of 10 pips. Care Information: Despite having a temperamental reputation, lily of the valley is easy to grow if you buy it ready potted in spring. Before planting, prepare the soil by digging over and removing any weeds. Incorporate some well-rotted manure to enrich the soil if necessary. Use a trowel to create a hole just deep and wide enough to set in the roots. Spread out any underground stems and cover with just a couple of inches of the planting mixture. Firm back around the soil, using your hand for small clumps and your heel on larger areas. Mulch well with leafmould or well-rotted compost. Water in well to settle the soil and prevent desiccation. If you find that flowering is poor, an occasional dose of high-potash organic liquid feed may help Delivered As: Bulb Max Height (in cm): 23 Max Spread (in cm): 30 Planting Period: Spring Planting Position: Shade Potted: N Masses of tiny white bell-shaped flowers with sweet scent in late spring.
